  1. Psalm 122

Psalm 122 is one of the Songs of Ascents which were written as a musical story or oratorio of a pilgrim’s journey to Jerusalem for the festival. This was written for and first performed at the dedication of Solomon’s Temple which occurred at—wait for it—the Feast of Tabernacles! So I feel this song is significant for our time; especially with the additions of the allusions to the book of Hebrews and the fulfillment spoken of in the book of the Revelation!

Lyrics

Psalm 122 Heb. 12:22, Rev. 21:2-3 A Song of degrees
I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” We are come to the heavenly city of God,
Prepared as a bride for her husband adorned.
And a heavenly voice cries, “Behold, for the dwelling of God is with men.” Our feet are standing within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
Verse 1:
Jerusalem is built a city compact together:
Where the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD
To the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. For there are set the judgment thrones, the thrones of David’s house.
Verse 2:
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they that love thee shall prosper. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity in thy courts.
For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I say, within thee be Peace. For the sake of God’s own house, I will seek thy good.
